📚 Study Skills Workshop 📚

This week a group of our Year 11 pupils attended a study skills workshop run by our Pupil Support Team.

The workshop was aimed at helping pupils to develop a range of effective revision skills and healthy revision habits, and each pupil received a study skills stationary pack with all the essentials they need to help get them started too ✨

Thank you to our guest speaker, who talked to the pupils about the importance of association when revising, to ensure that information is transferred from working to long-term memory 💫

A huge thank you to our wonderful Pupil Support Team for putting this workshop, and the stationary packs, together, ensuring our pupils have everything they need to help them reach their full potential 🌟

🌏 World Challenge Expedition 🌏

On Saturday, our pupils who will be embarking on the World Challenge Expedition to Peru this summer, spent the day at Kings’ preparing for their epic adventure 💫

They spent the day with their World Challenge Leader learning all about Peru and the community project, and took part in team building activities, found out what and how to pack and spent time planning for the trek.

A superb day was had by all - full of excitement, planning and understanding more about the adventure that lies ahead ✨

We look forward to hearing more about this adventure over the coming months!

🌟 Comic Relief Fundraising Event 🌟

📍Thursday 19th March, 3.30pm on the school field

We are fundraising for Comic Relief!
All Pupils & Staff are invited to join us in raising money for this very worthy cause, by joining in with the ‘Comic Relief Red Mile’

Bring a funny item of red clothing to wear after school and join in completing a 1 mile walk/run/jog/amble/sidestep/skip - however you wish to move - around the school cross-country course!

We need as many pupils & staff involved as possible to help raise some Comic Relief funds and demonstrate our exceptional character 💫

Donations can be made via our just giving page - link in bio ⬆️, or bring cash on the day.

So grab a group of friends, bring along your red clothing and join us in “doing something funny for money” 😁

📚 Hampshire Book Awards 2026 📚

Yesterday we were visited by a representative from the Hampshire School Library Service to talk to a group of our Year 8 pupils about the launch of the Hampshire Book Awards 2026!

The pupils who have signed up to take part will read the shortlisted books for their age group and have the opportunity to write a review of the books, before casting their vote for their favourite 💫

🏑 Celebrating Sporting Success - Earn Success 🏑

Huge congratulations to our Under 16 Boys Hockey Team, who last week finished top of the South Central regional championships at Reading Hockey Club 🌟

After four wins and one loss they were level on points and on goal difference with King Eward’s Witley, but progressed by virtue of having scored one more goal across the day 💫

In the sapping spring sunshine they had the following results:
Kings’ 4-0 Windsor Boys School
Kings’ 4-0 Cranford House
Kings’ 1-2 KES Witley
Kings’ 2-1 Leighton Park
Kings’ 1-0 Lord Wandsworth College

The team played some outstanding hockey throughout the day and now progress to the England Hockey Tier 3 National Finals at Nottingham Hockey centre on 23rd March.

Huge congratulations to the team and to Mr Birch who has coached the boys to this success!

🎹 Steinway Piano Masterclass 🎹

Last week a small group of our pianist pupils were invited to Peter Symonds College for a Piano Masterclass Workshop, where they engaged in a highly informative and inspiring day of musical enrichment 🎶

Pupils were given a detailed demonstration of how a Steinway piano is constructed and were introduced to the innovative Spirio self‑playing piano, representing the latest advancement in Steinway’s performance technology!

A particular highlight of the event was the opportunity for one of our GCSE Year 10 pupils to take part in a masterclass with internationally renowned pianist Charles Owen. Kyle performed the first movement of Beethoven’s Sonata No. 8 in C minor, “Pathétique” and received expert feedback in front of pupils from six different schools across the Winchester area 💫

This was a fantastic experience for our pupils and we’d like to thank @peter_symonds_college for hosting the event & inviting our pupils to take part ✨

✨ Activity Days 2026 ✨

Our fun filled Activity Days will take place this year on Monday 20th and Tuesday 21st July.

A fantastic range of both onsite and offsite activities have been lined up for our for year 7-9 pupils, who are not already booked on to one of the residential trips. All activities can be found on the Trips section of our website ⬆️

Pupils need to choose a different activity for each day and bookings must be made via the new myEVOLVE system, which opens for bookings on Monday 9th March at 7pm - details on how to set your account up were sent out last week 💫

These are fun & enriching activities and every pupil must be booked onto activities for both days.
So, make your choice & be ready to book at 7pm on the 9th March! 🌟

Places at both Oxford University and the University of Cambridge are highly competitive and notoriously difficult to secure, so this really is an incredible achievement and we are so proud to have been part of their journey 💫

🌟 Year 7 Ambassadors Primary School Visit 🌟

This week a group of our Year 7 Ambassadors headed back to primary school to talk about their experience of moving up to secondary school 💫

Children from Years 5 and 6 had a chance to ask any questions they had, followed by questions from the Year 5 and 6 parents.

Our Year 7’s were a real credit to Kings’ and thoroughly enjoyed returning to their primary school. Well done everyone! ✨

One of the main themes we are running as part our celebration year is connecting the past with the present and to support this, we are placing a greater emphasis on our annual Alumni sports day.

🌟 Year 7 Parents Evening Bookings & Fruit Salad Fun 🌟

Today some of our Year 7 pupils enjoyed their first Food Tech practical and had fun chopping fruit to make a fruit salad - yum! 😋

Next week, the Year 7 parents evening will take place online on Wednesday 4th March, from 5pm-8pm and the first round of the parents evening booking system opens TOMORROW - Tuesday 24th February at 7pm!

Bookings will be paused on Thursday 26th February at 12pm and reopened again at 7pm and the 6 appointments restriction will be lifted at this point.

You will find the link to the booking system on the letter sent out before half term, or on the Patents Evening area of our website.

This is a fantastic opportunity to meet with your child’s teacher and find out how they are getting on. To get the most out of the session, We recommend your child joins you on the call.

🌟 Happy half term everyone - it’s been a busy final week! 🌟

On Thursday our new cohort of Prefects were announced in a special Year 10 assembly. Huge congratulations to the 140 pupils selected - our biggest number yet!

There was an incredible atmosphere in the hall as pupils cheered in support for their peers ✨

And today at Kings’, love was certainly in the air as the Enterprise Club Valentine Shop burst into full swing at lunchtime!

A wonderful selection of hand crafted Valentine’s cards and gifts were on offer to purchase and share the love, and there was even an anonymous rose delivery service 🌹🤐

Such a lovely atmosphere and it was heartwarming to see special gifts being picked for special friends ✨

A fitting end to this half term, we wish you all a restful break and hope there are more sunny spring days to come in the next haft term!
