🌟 Year 6 Summer School 🌟

This week has been a busy one at Kings’ with the last of our Year 6 Summer School days taking place.

A fun couple of days filled with:

Along with lots of; making new friends, getting familiar with the school & surroundings and spending time with our staff ✨

Huge thank you to all our members of staff who gave up the last days of their summer break to make this so much fun for our new cohort, along with special thanks to Mrs Jenkins, our fantastic Transition Co-ordinator for all the hard work that goes into making the transition to secondary so positive and enjoyable for our pupils 🌟

🌎 World Challenge Expedition to Peru 🌏

At the end of term, 14 Year 11 pupils and 2 members of staff embarked on the adventure of a lifetime in Peru! 🇵🇪

After two years of preparation and fundraising, they spent three incredible weeks exploring Lima, Paracas, the Ballestas Islands, Nazca, Arequipa, Puno, the floating islands of Lake Titicaca, Cusco, camping in the Amazon Rainforest and a trek to Huaracondo and the breathtaking Machu Picchu!

Along the way they met amazing people, experienced a different way of life, encountered fascinating wildlife, and discovered just how much they could achieve when working together.

What an unforgettable journey of challenge, resilience and self-discovery. 💫

Congratulations to all our pupils for completing this extraordinary expedition, and a huge thank you to Miss Banwell and Mrs Hutton for supporting them every step of the way✨

Wishing all our pupils receiving their GCSE Results this week the very best of luck!

We would love for you to join us at Kings’ for this momentous occasion - Main Reception will be open on Thursday from 10am-12pm, offering you the opportunity to collect your paper results in person and celebrate with your friends, peers and teachers.

Many staff will be onsite over the morning to share this moment with you, along with offering guidance and support where needed.

GCSE results will also be available via the Department for Education’s Education Record App from 11am, if you have registered for this.

We are incredibly proud of every one of you ✨ Remember that no matter what your results are, there are always opportunities, options and pathways out there to help you achieve your goals and dreams 💫

🌟 Inspiring Futures: Year 5 STEM Masterclass 🌟

At the end of June, we welcomed 25 Year 5 pupils, nominated by their primary schools, for an exciting evening of STEM discovery! ✨

Working alongside pupils from different schools, they explored the theme of Chain Reactions through a series of interactive activities, including:
🔹 Investigating how digital sensors can detect earthquakes and tsunamis
🔹 Cracking codes in Mathematics
🔹 Exploring polymers and chemical reactions in Chemistry 🔹 Designing and building their own Rube Goldberg machines

We were incredibly impressed by the pupils’ knowledge, enthusiasm and positive attitude throughout the evening. 💫

You were a credit to your schools, and it was fantastic to meet you all. We hope to welcome you back again soon! ✨

Huge congratulations to our year 8 pupil Leila, whose trio team has been selected to compete for Great Britain at the Aerobic Gymnastics World Championships in Spain this September! ✨

This is on the back of a fantastic weekend at the British Championships where her trio won Bronze and her FIG Group became British Champions with their PB score!

🌟 Sports Day 2026 🌟

A look back on an epic Sports Day at Kings'! ✨

The atmosphere was incredible, and it was wonderful to see such fantastic camaraderie, determination and House spirit throughout the day ✨

Several school records were broken, including three field event records that had stood for an astonishing 25-30 years! 👏🏆

This year's Sports Day was especially poignant as we staged a 'Bamford Bound' in memory of Mrs Bamford, who loved this day so much. ❤️
A huge thank you to 10BFD, who led this so beautifully, and to the entire school community for coming together to celebrate a truly wonderful teacher, colleague and friend 💫

🔬 Science Club Highlights 🔬

It’s been a busy and exciting term in Science Club! ✨

Over the past few weeks, our pupils have taken part in a range of hands-on activities, including:
☀️ Building a solar oven as part of a survival challenge�🕵️ Learning real-life CSI and forensic investigation techniques�🏥 Practising suturing skills and taking basic observations in a medical-themed session�🔐 Taking on a science escape room, where each practical activity unlocked the next clue!

These fantastic experiences were made possible thanks to the generosity of the Blue Spark Foundation, whose grant helped us develop and expand our extra-curricular science activities.

A huge well done to all of our budding scientists for their enthusiasm, curiosity and teamwork! 👏🧪
