🌟 Year 7&8 STEM Workshops 🌟

Last week, three groups of our Year 7 and Year 8 pupils took part in STEM workshops, led by experienced facilitator Alan O’Donohoe 💫

The workshops engaged pupils with collaborative problem solving challenges, simulating the range of thinking and creativity required in STEM career roles ✨

🌟 Health & Social Care Visit 🌟

Last week we were really fortunate to have Maisy come and speak to some of our Year 11 Health & Social Care pupils about her role as a Paediatric Nurse 🌟

It was really inspiring to hear about her career path and experiences, alongside how she supports babies with heart conditions on Ocean Ward at Southampton General Hospital ✨

Thank you Maisy, we really appreciate you giving up your time to come in!

Having people come in to talk to our pupils about their real world experiences & careers, is both enriching and inspiring!

🌟 Latin Workshop 🌟

Last week our Year 11 Latin pupils visited Winchester College for a group revision session, alongside Latin pupils from other schools in the area.

As well as the revision session, the pupils also visited the College Treasury where they enjoyed a session learning about the history of, and handling, ancient Greek artefacts and listened to a talk from the Head of Classical Studies at Peter Symonds College about studying Latin beyond GCSE ✨

🌟 We are looking for people to join our friendly team of Invigilators 🌟

Invigilators are responsible for setting up the exam rooms and supervising pupils on arrival, during the exams and facilitating the end of exams.

There is no previous experience required for this role and full training is given.

The work is casual so you can choose morning and/or afternoon sessions during November, February and April to June.
Morning sessions start at 8.30am, afternoon sessions start at 1.00pm, £12.21 per hour.

Hampshire are hosting SEND Discovery Days across the county to enable families and carers to explore the local support and services available for children and young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND)

These events offer an opportunity to meet and talk directly with these teams and gain valuable information 💫

🌟 Welcome back! 🌟

It was great to see everyone back today!
The first day back to school after a break always feels heart warming - the corridors and outdoor areas are filled with an extra buzz of excitement as friends reconnect, excited to see each other again and chat about what they’ve been up to during the break…this is true for both pupils and staff! ✨

There is so much to look forward to this term - many trips & expeditions, STEM days, taster days, work experience, sports day, Prom, activity days, Family Fun Day, and of course our school production of We Will Rock You - this year being held at Theatre Royal, Winchester….what a term! 💫

✨ Transition: Postcards to Year 6 ✨

A very warm welcome to all the Year 6 families who will be joining the Kings’ School community this September!

Places have been allocated and Mrs Jenkins, our transition co-ordinator, has been very busy getting the transition process underway ✨

This year Mrs Jenkins had the genius idea of asking our Year 7’s to write a postcard about their experience of joining Kings’, relating back to what worried them about moving up to big school. Here is just a snapshot of the wonderful postcards that were written ✨

Over 350 postcards have been divided up and sent out to the primary schools pupils will be joining us from, and we hope hearing directly from the pupils who have just gone through the process will help ease some of those worries 🙂

There are a number of transition events lined up throughout the Summer Term including information evenings, coffee events and induction days. Please have a look at the Transition to Kings’ section on our website for more information and dates, link in our bio ⬆️
